Looking for some recommendations on the best vegetables to grow in your vegetable garden this year? You asked... I've got them! Basically, you want to grow the vegetables that will give you the best crop. Keep reading to learn more... Tigerella Tomato. this tomato will give you 20kg per plant, and It is quite tasty compared to the Hybrid tomatoes. If you want to go for taste alone I would recommend Tommy Toe,
which will still give you 11kgs per plant.
Rouge vif de'Etampes (maxima) or Bohemian (maxima) Pumpkins. These pumpkins are the fastest growing and are also among the tastiest available.
Bush Cucumber. This yields about eight fruits and grows 20cms long. you can grow these closer together than a normal cucumber. Or, Chinese Sweet and Striped cucumbers would be the sweetest and best tasting cucumbers of all, growing to about three foot long and producing 5 to 6 fruit per plant, also drought resistant.
Emerald Acre Cabbage. The cabbage I would recommend for a small home garden is Emerald Acre, it grows a small round head weighing about 1kg to 1.6kg and it only takes eight weeks from transplanting to harvest. In more temperate climes you can grow this for most of the year.
Mini Cauliflower. If I was just starting a garden I would go for The Mini Cauliflower, planting them a foot apart with 1 in the middle and two on either side. eat the outside ones when they have a four inch head and leave the centre one to grow to full size.
Chinese Giant Capsicum and the Sweet Chocolate Capsicum. These are the two varieties I would recommend and if you like to eat your Capsicum raw I would recommend the Mini Sweet Peppers, which, after they are seeded can be included in your salads.
Dragons Tongue Dwarf Beans. This is a really great tasting bean and the Lazy Housewife climbing bean is the most prolific bean of them all, out producing other varieties by up to five times. Both of these beans are stringless.
