May 26, 2006 11:45 - Vegetable Gardening Secret: Plant Heirloom Vegetables

Heirloom vegetables can help you make a great start with your first vegetable garden.

What's an heirloom vegetable, I hear you asking? Well, heirlooms are plant varieties that have been around a long time, for example, heirloom tomatoes. Rediscovered in the recent taste revolution, "heirloom" refers to tomatoes that are not hybrids, and have been in existence at least 50 years--preserved for their superb taste. Heirloom tomatoes often are unusual shapes or colors. Many people have never tasted "real" tomatoes--if you’ve only eaten supermarket or other commercially produced tomatoes, you’re in for a delicious surprise.

Learn more about how to grow heirloom vegetables and heirloom tomatoes, where to get heirloom seeds, and what varieties I recommend by clicking the link below to read the rest of this informative article. Heirloom vegetables really are the ticket!

Till next time,
